I'm calling about ...
I've been working for my new employer since February. On the evening of February 3, I activated my new business cell phone number on my smartphone. Since then, I've been getting all kinds of calls, even though the cell phone number hasn't yet been received internally or by customers.
The reason for this article is the last call I received a few minutes ago. Preliminary PS: I have already applied for a new phone number, because this nonsense prevents me from working.
Here are the highlights of the last few days:
4 Feb, 2025: I'm on the train on my way home from the first 2 days of onboarding. A private "friend" calls me, only to ask me after I've given my name: "Yo, who are you?"
5 Feb, 2025: A furniture store calls me to make an appointment to design a kitchen. Unfortunately, I didn't realize until later that I could have just told them to deliver the kitchen in bright orange.
10 Feb, 2025: It was time for "my" physiotherapy appointment. It was actually quite convenient because of my bad back. Unfortunately, it was several hundred miles away.
10 Feb, 2025: A call from a private cell phone number. "Unfortunately" I couldn't answer because I was in the middle of a meeting.
11 Feb, 2025: I was told to make an appointment to finally get my heater fixed.
12 Feb, 2025: Someone wanted to contact me about "my" application for government assistance for families.
As funny as it all sounds at first - it keeps me from working permanently. And after an interruption, which is pointless, you need - I just read this somewhere, but can't find it now - about 20 minutes to get back to the topic you were working on before. (I don't know if this is true, but sometimes it seems that way to me).
By the way, this is my first post on Bear Blog. Maybe I'll stay here. π
