I just renewed my deceased father's email account
My email address is on file in case there are any problems with my father's email account. Yesterday, I received an email stating that his email account would be deleted because it had been inactive for six months.
The fact is: my dad has been dead for almost two years now. He died shortly after my 40th birthday, and I believe that a lot has changed in me since then. But that's not the point. The point is whether what I'm doing here is okay. Whether one should do this.
I still have my dad in my cell phone contacts. I still have the WhatsApp chat history with him saved. I'm renewing his email account β obviously again β and that has allowed me to log into his Instagram.
Should one do that? Why am I doing this? Am I somehow keeping him alive?
Is it questionable that I have insight into his former private life? Do I perhaps even want that, so I can learn more about him? Things I never knew but would have liked to know? Should I rather leave all that alone?
I've missed him a lot in the last few days.
Tell me what you think about this
